On May 23, the first production line of BAIC was officially launched in Veracruz, eastern Mexico. The first BAIC X25 rolled off the production line in Mexico, which marked the assembly business of BAIC in Mexico officially started.

Dr. Dong Haiyang, President of BAIC International, and representatives of 11 distributors and cooperation from Mexico attended the ceremony of rolling off the production line, together with representatives from 23 media, including Xinhua News Agency and CNN Mexico Branch.

On that day, the outdoor and indoor temperature was up to 37 and over 40 degrees respectively in Veracruz, but the manufacturing teams of China and Mexico are both enthusiastic. After learning about the factory production line transformation and trial operation, Dr. Dong Haiyang pointed out thatChinese and Mexican manufacturing teams have made great efforts to realize tariff reduction and exemption and assembly in Mexico with minimum investment by virtue of the PROSEC and made outstanding contributions to BAIC’s business development in Mexico.

On the production site, Dr. Dong Haiyang accepted a media interview. He said that Mexico and had concluded and entered into a free trade agreement with 46 countries that projects of Chinese auto enterprises can enjoy tariff policy preference locally. Given local rich parts and the regional advantage of the Veracruz Port, we can expand our products into Central and South America.

With the increase in sales volume, BAIC’s factory project in Mexico will be implemented in the near future.

As a developing country with relatively low production costs in the North American Free Trade Area, Mexico, in addition to its revived consumption, has inherent advantages for exports to the United States and Canada based on the agreed preferential policies in the free trade area. Since the establishment in 2013, BAIC International has taken the Mexico as an important strategic market, and constantly expanded the Mexican market, with adherence to business model innovation and simultaneous development of traditional cars and new energy vehicles.

In the face of fierce competition in the automotive industry, BAIC actively increases business scale in Mexico. Since the opening of the first 4S store in Mexico in June 2016, the number of BAIC stores has been increased to 12.

After BAIC’s factories in Mexico put into operation, they will greatly promote local economic development and improve the living standards of local residents, making an important contribution to the development of the automobile industry in Mexico and becoming models for economic and trade cooperation between China and Mexico in the near future.
